My Expat World Hola. Mi nombre es Hor, soy Española y desde hace casi cuatro años vivo en Düsseldorf, Alemania.

Me gusta mi trabajo.

From Seattle to Andalucia: Christine in Spain

18 September, 2017 09:58  Erin Erin

Christine in spain I’m Christine, a proud Seattleite (Seattle, WA, U.S.A.) and now an adopted Española, living in Andalucia, Spain.

1. Why did you move abroad?
I studied abroad in Greece the summer going into my senior year of college and fell head-over-heels in love with travel. The history, the food, the culture, and how everything was so completely foreign to me evolved into absolute wanderlust. Naturally, after such a life-changing experience, long-term travel wasn’t something I could imagine putting off until retirement. The two-week vacation culture in the United States is suffocating, and I felt that if I could make travel a priority while I was still young, it would be the best decision I could make for myself.

From Florida to Scotland: Cheers Blondie

11 September, 2017 08:45  Erin Erin

Cheers BlondieMy name is Ashley and I am originally a Florida girl, but made Washington, DC my home. I moved to Scotland two years ago, due to a thing called love, and started Cheers Blondie to share my adventures and unique outlook on living and working abroad.

1.    Why did you move abroad?
I was swept away by a Scottish stud, who is now my husband! We met in Washington, DC and he’s originally from St Andrews, Scotland. He had been in the states for several years and wanted to move back. I let the accent influence me and packed my bags and moved to Edinburgh!

2.    How do you make a living?
I work in client services for a creative agency. It wasn’t an easy transition from DC to Edinburgh in regard to work, but I have been lucky to find the opportunities I have and be able to continue my career abroad and have some money to live on (always a positive).

A few countries later that’s still our lifestyle today.

My husband is the one bringing the money home - same trade as me! When the kids are a bit bigger I might start working again. For the moment I enjoy the time I can spend with them.

From Canada to USA to Ireland: Gracefully Expat

28 August, 2017 09:00  Erin Erin

Gracefully Expat My name is Grace Taylor and I'm a serial expat who has recently become location independent. I'm originally from Canada, and so far I've lived long term in the US, South Africa, and Ireland. I decided to become location independent because there are simply too many places I love around the world!

1. Why did you move abroad?

I first moved away from my home country when I was a student, and I transferred from my university in Canada to one in the US. That turned into a job offer, and I lived in the US for several years. During that time, I went on a rotation to South Africa, which was a more typical, employer-sponsored expat experience. Then, in June 2016 I moved to Ireland, also for work, but that time as a local hire. Beginning in late 2017, I will be splitting my time between Vancouver, which is where I'm from and where my family live, Dublin, where some people who are very dear to me are based, and the rest of the world.
