Brown Skin MamaMy name is Dela, I’m fro the UK but now live in Ghana with my family (husband and 4 children).

1. Why did you move abroad?
We moved because we were fed up of the rat race in the UK, we barely had time for one another.  My husband was working 6 days week in construction and I was a stay at home mum.

2. How do you make a living?

My husband is into construction and I blog and do youtube videos.

3. How often do you communicate with home and how?
I'm terrrible at keeping in touch with people but usually its WhatsApp as that is the most cost effective way.

4. What's your favorite thing about being an expat in Ghana?
Experiences all the new things. Food, travel, sights, sounds and meeting new people.

5. What’s the worst thing about being an expat in Ghana?
It's very difficult to make lasting friendships because people are always leaving to go abroad for.

6. What do you miss most?
The supermarket and been able to order things online that turn up in a few day…I really miss that here.

7. What did you do to meet people and integrate in your new home?
We had lots of family already here so it wasnt too difficult fitting in. We just meet lots of peope doing our everyday things.

8. What custom/ habits do you find most strange about your adopted culture?
Wow where do I start?  This will turn into an essay otherwise.

In short version, people here think very different to us and that can cause a bit of a divide.

9. What is a myth about your adopted country?
That we are poor. Ghana is full of rich people! They own houses and cars without loans!

10. Is the cost of living higher or lower than the last country you lived in and how has that made a difference in your life?
Lower for sure but if you want imported items then it gets expensive.

11. What advice would you give other expats?
Ghana is a great place to live but you must have an open mind to live here otherwise you will get easily frustrated.

Brown Skin Mama 12. When and why did you start your blog?

I started it at a therapy for mysef I guess, to air my frustrations and it has since grown from there the deeper I have got into the blogging world.
